On Saturday, March 21st, ground was broken to initiate the Ivanhoe Community Garden. Designed as a community outreach program under the auspices of Black River Presbyterian Church, the garden was planned so that we may enjoy fellowship with our Ivanhoe neighbors and some surrounding churches.
It was a cold and blustery day, but folks turned out for the event. The garden was tilled, compost was put down, row covers were placed, seedlings were transplanted and seeds were potted for future transplants. In addition a soil test was done to determine what nutrients are needed for a successful garden.
The money necessary for the garden start-up was received from the Luther Brown memorial fund.
It is our hope that this garden will bring us together as a community dedicated to the glory of God.
